The Sahara can be visited all year round, but each season offers a very different experience. Here is what to expect from each one before you fix your dates.
Spring (March to May): the best choice
Pleasant daytime temperatures, cool nights and green landscapes in the valleys. It is also the season of the Valley of the Roses, in April and May.
Dica: Book ahead: this is high season for desert itineraries.
Autumn (September to November)
The summer heat eases and the dunes are perfect for walking and camel rides at sunset.
Winter (December to February)
Sunny days and very cold nights in the desert. Bring a coat, a hat and layers — the starry sky more than makes up for it.
Dica: Luxury camps have heating and extra blankets.
Summer (June to August)
Very hot in the south, but still possible with early morning and late afternoon departures. It is the best time for the Atlantic coast, such as Essaouira and Agadir.
