Sahara Desert: Unforgettable Landscapes

The Sahara Desert is known for being the largest hot desert in the world. Officially, it is the third-largest desert on Earth, right after Antarctica and the Arctic, as these two are also considered deserts. However, both are polar deserts.
The Sahara Desert is located in North Africa, covering an area of over 9 million km (over 9 thousand km in the source text, which is an error; 9 million km is the correct approximate area), an area comparable to that of Europe and the area of the United States, and larger than the area of many continental countries such as Brazil. The countries where the Sahara Desert is located are: Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, and Tunisia.
Many people think that the Sahara Desert is just dunes and more sand dunes. We regret to say that it’s not quite like that…
The Sahara Desert is a region with little vegetation. But it has a population of 2.5 million people living in the Sahara region.
Some peoples of the Sahara, such as the Tuaregs and the Bedouins, are nomads. They raise camels, sheep, and goats and wander the desert in search of pastures for their animals.
Today, however, most Saharan people settle in one place, mainly near the oases. They cultivate fruits, especially dates, and cereals like millet, barley, and wheat.
The villages located in oases are a center for commerce and the exchange of animal skins, wool, fruits, and salt among the desert inhabitants. Their hospitality is impressive!
Furthermore, the sunset in the Sahara is the most beautiful in the world, considered so by the World Tourism Organization!
And no wonder, you are in Morocco, the land where the sun sets!
