A Journey of Discovery to explore Morocco on an 11-day Imperial Cities Tour from Casablanca through the Sahara, exploring: Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara Desert, Merzouga, Aït Benhaddou (Kabash), and ending the excursion in Marrakech.

DAY 1: AIRPORT – CASABLANCA

Depending on your arrival time in Casablanca, the largest city in the country, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In this case, it could be Hotel Val d’Anfa or similar.

DAY 2: CASABLANCA – RABAT – CHEFCHAOUEN

After breakfast, we will visit the Hassan II Mosque.

We will then continue our trip to Rabat, where we will visit the splendid Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah des Oudayas.

In the late afternoon, we will depart for Chefchaouen, where we will spend the night in a riad or local hotel.

DAY 3: CHEFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FES

After breakfast, your visit to the Blue City begins. First, you will visit the Kasbah of Chefchaouen, a heavily restored walled fortress that now contains a beautiful garden.

Next, a small ethnographic museum and an even smaller art gallery that displays all parts of the city.

After the visit, we will have lunch in Chefchaouen or along the way.

We will continue our tour to Fes with a stop at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, where Islam was founded in Morocco. We will spend the night in a riad in Fes.

DAY 4: EXPLORE FES WITH A LOCAL GUIDE

After breakfast, we will continue our visit with a local guide to explore the sights of Fes, the oldest cultural and spiritual imperial city of Morocco. Fes was founded in 790 AD by Moulay Idriss II.

Highlights include the Medieval Medina, the Medersas (an Islamic teaching university), the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, and the sumptuous Nejjarine Fountain. We will spend the night in a riad in Fes.

DAY 5: AZROU – MERZOUGA

We will leave in the morning to visit the magical cedar forests of Azrou and Ifrane, where you will be amazed by their spectacular natural elements. We will take a break in Midelt, a small town between the High and Middle Atlas, an exceptional place to observe the lush mountainous landscape.

During our journey, you may see some monkeys and other animals typical of the cedar forest. After arriving in Merzouga, you can enjoy traditional Moroccan tea as a sign of welcome.

After that, it’s time to ride a camel through the desert until you reach the camp. After dinner, there will be live traditional music and dancing around the fire. It will be a night in the luxury desert camp.

DAY 6: DESERT TOUR

The sixth day is dedicated to discovering the eastern Sahara Desert. We travel through the desert in a 4×4, visiting the nomads in Erg Chebbi. We will also go to the village of the people called “Khamlia” and enjoy the original music and folk songs of the Gnawas.

We will visit Rissani, the last major town about 40 km west of Erg Chebbi. At lunchtime, you will eat a Berber pizza with us. From there, back to the village of Merzouga, we will spend the night in a hotel overlooking the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. In this case, it could be Hotel Yasmina Merzouga or similar.

DAY 7: MERZOUGA – TODGHA GORGE – DADES GORGES

On the seventh day, we will wake up early to contemplate the sunrise. You will enjoy the spectacular sand dunes that change colors and reflect the light. We will return to the hotel for breakfast and depart for the Dades Valley, passing through Ziz Oases and Tinjdad, a road full of sumptuous Kasbahs and palm trees.

After lunch, we will continue to visit the Todgha Gorge with its impressive bare cliffs. Then, we continue to Boumalne Dadès via a series of spectacular curves. The overnight stay will be in the Dades Gorges.

DAY 8: DADES GORGES – AÏT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we continue our tour of Morocco.

Leaving the Dades Valley, we head to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” via the Roses Valley and Skoura Oases. Once in Ouarzazate, we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, originally the residence of the Pasha of Marrakech and a symbol of the feudal period of the Lords of the Atlas.

Lunch will be at the Aït Benhaddou World Heritage Site (this famous kasbah has been used as a backdrop for more than 20 films). We will continue the journey to Marrakech through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Arrival in Marrakech late in the afternoon and overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 9: EXPLORE MARRAKECH WITH A LOCAL GUIDE

The ninth day will be dedicated to a sightseeing tour of Marrakech, the second oldest imperial city, known as the “Pearl of the South,” and home to the Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace, and the Menara Garden.

We return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we will explore the souks and the world-famous Djemaa El Fna square, which offers various entertainment, such as storytellers, acrobats, snake charmers, magicians, etc.

We will spend the night in a riad.

DAY 10: FREE DAY IN MARRAKECH

The tenth day is a free day to visit a Hammam, also known as a Turkish bath, steam bath, or steam sauna. It is a type of bath that consists of staying in a hot, steamy environment. After some time in this environment, the bather dips or wets themselves with cold or hot water.

DAY 11: TRANSFER TO MARRAKECH AIRPORT

The trip to Morocco has come to an end. We will provide the transfer to Marrakech Airport. You need to be at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight, so that your departure is organized accordingly.

Marrakech Airport is considered one of the most beautiful airports in the world by Skyteam. A journey of discovery in Morocco will end at the airport.
