Every year, the British magazine Time Out chooses the best cities in the world with the help of 20,000 questionnaires.
And it elected the 53 best cities in the world in 2026. And to the pride of Moroccans, one of them is in our country!
Marrakech took the 7th place, surpassing cities like Madrid, Montreal, Berlin, and London.
HOW WAS THE RANKING MADE?
During the two years of restrictions due to the pandemic, the annual survey focused on how cities strengthened themselves and sought to improve people’s lives during that period.
Now, with a more optimistic tourism scenario, Time Out magazine sought to show great cities to visit and live in. The initiative’s idea is to point out to tourists the places that the residents themselves love.
For this selection, participants talked about where they live, revealing the reasons for the fame of some places and even the secrets that make several destinations special.
In the past, things like community spirit and resilience were important factors, but now, extra weight was given to things that make cities great places to live and visit.
This year’s highlights were cities with nightlife, good gastronomy and drinks, art, culture, and museums in abundance.
The chosen cities scored well on practical things, such as walkability, good public transport, and safety, as well as sustainability.
