DESERT TREKKING WITH CAMELS

If you had to choose one place that embodies the magic of Morocco, what would it be?

Camels are one of the animals always present in Morocco. They are used as transport for tourist treks, known as camel trekking or camel rides.

It is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience that opens up the authentic Moroccan lifestyle.

CAMEL RIDE

The camel ride in the desert offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the caravans that used to travel on centuries-old routes full of adventures.

These caravans traveled in search of cool oases, water sources, as well as trading salt and spices. The older nomads can tell stories of their own lives across the dunes towards distant lands and their return home.

Being in the desert, riding a camel, with your hair wrapped in an indigo turban, is, at the very least, a connection with a past full of history.

DAY 1: ERG CHEBBI AREA – OASIS IN THE DUNES

After packing the camels (preparing everything needed for the trekking days), we set off around 5:00 PM towards an isolated oasis. We will watch the sunset from the huge $350$ m high dunes. At the oasis, we spend the night in a nomadic tent and enjoy a drum party and bonfire.

You will see the stars and the moon in the desert sky like never before. You can sand ski or snowboard on the dunes here if you wish.

DAY 2: OASIS – NOMAD FAMILY

After breakfast, we ride for $2.5$ hours to have lunch at an oasis and then continue to the home of a Berber desert family, where you can sleep in a small house, tent, or under the stars, as desired.

You will see and taste a traditional meal of handmade couscous for dinner, followed by music. You can see another magnificent desert sunset.

DAY 3: BERBER DESERT FAMILY – TUAREG FAMILY

After breakfast, we travel by camel, stopping for a lunch of grilled chicken and Moroccan salad, and continue to a Tuareg family camp to enjoy a meal of mutton tagine and accommodation in a tent. You will see the difference between the life and customs of the Berber and Tuareg people.

DAY 4: TUAREG FAMILY – ERG CHEBBI HOTELS

After breakfast, we will travel by camel back to the hotel for a shower. At this stage, the tour is finished.
