WHAT TO DO IN CASABLANCA
HASSAN II MOSQUE
The Hassan II Mosque is the main attraction in Casablanca. After all, it is the second-largest mosque in the world and the only one open to non-Muslims in Morocco.
The mosque was built on the edge of the sea, boasts minarets exceeding 210 meters, and is immensely rich in detail in its Moroccan mosaics. Its construction aimed to provide the city with an imposing religious work that would allow for a spiritual influence based on faith.
The Hassan II Mosque project involved the collaboration of the French architectural firm of Michel Pinceau and the French construction company Bouygues. Construction began in 1985 and took only 8 years to complete. For this, more than 2,500 workers and 10,000 artisans worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Its construction generated much controversy due to the amounts spent, but today it is the greatest symbol of Morocco and attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Its interior features incredible richness of detail, with beautiful ornaments and paintings. A guided tour is worthwhile to better understand the building’s importance.
MOHAMMED V SQUARE
Mohammed V Square was built in 1920 and is a meeting point in Casablanca. Several important monuments are built on it, such as the courthouse and the city hall buildings.
It is adorned with palm trees and a beautiful central fountain, where tourists will find people dressed in Moroccan traditional attire.
LA CORNICHE AND AIN DIAB BEACH
La Corniche is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view of the Atlantic Ocean alongside bars, clubs, and restaurants. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the weather. It is very much in the style of Ocean Drive in Miami.

Not to mention that the place is beautiful and gains extra charm with the commerce. There are so many attractions that you won’t even notice the time passing!
RICK’S CAFÉ
It is the second most visited place in Casablanca, precisely because of the movie that bears the same name. Ironically, the film was not made there; the restaurant is just a replica of what Hollywood created in its studios.
Rick’s Café makes any tourist fall in love with the place, especially cinema lovers. Besides the food being delicious, the decor is fabulous.
QUARTIER HABOUS
It is a pleasant place with good handicraft commerce. Quartier Habous is a set of shops where you can find everything from olives and spices to slippers and fabrics. It was built while the city was a French colony, hence the influence on the architecture.
