AGENCIA MARROCOS

Enjoy summer and come to Morocco for an indescribable experience, something many wish to do at least once in their lives. After all, besides being a country with a very strong culture and wonderful cuisine, it is full of incredible places to visit and explore its entire history.

Morocco is an increasingly popular tourist destination throughout the year. And as the seasons change throughout the year, so do the opportunities visitors have to experience Morocco’s culture and history.

How about taking advantage of summer to travel to Morocco?

TRAVEL TO MOROCCO

Generally, spring and autumn are the most sought-after months to travel to Morocco. This happens because the milder climate in these months is favorable.

However, the summer months offer special treats for tourists. Summer is Morocco’s low season for international tourism.

If you decide to visit Morocco in summer, some of the things you can expect include lively music festivals and a chance to experience the real Morocco. Not to mention the sun that will perfectly match the country’s sandy coast.

MOROCCO IN SUMMER

Morocco’s climate is as diverse as its geography. From the colder Atlas Mountains to the relentless Sahara Desert and the windy coastal region, the climate across the country varies greatly.

And this is even truer during summer. Generally speaking, Morocco has a subtropical climate. Temperatures can range from chilly 5ºC in winter months to scorching 50ºC at the peak of summer in the desert.

Morocco’s coastal region features a more moderate climate. There, summers have high average temperatures ranging between 29ºC and 32ºC.

But the further you move away from the coast, the more extreme the temperatures become.

TIPS FOR SUMMER TRAVEL

The first tip is to enjoy the warm nights. You will find that in summer, Moroccan cities really come alive after the sun sets. For example, in cities across the country, you will find that much of life happens after the sun sets. Our advice is: go out in the early evening and discover Morocco’s lively nightlife.

Another very useful tip is to make air conditioning your best friend. It is essential in Morocco in summer. And you can be sure that both vehicles and hotels are well equipped with air conditioning to cool you down on hot summer days.

Try to schedule tours in the morning. If you are visiting historical and cultural sites in Moroccan cities, try to schedule these visits in the morning. This is when temperatures will be lower, and you will have many shaded places to protect yourself if the sun gets too hot.

As temperatures will be high in the summer months, make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day. Protect your skin with sunscreen, long, loose clothing, and a wide-brimmed hat.

Take advantage of drinking plenty of water and juices. A tip is to enjoy pomegranate juices in Jemaa el-Fna square.

Another very useful piece of advice in the Moroccan summer is: go slow. The heat will affect the pace at which you can explore the country at times, and that is perfectly normal. The most important thing is to stay hydrated and safe while exploring Morocco.

SHOULD YOU VISIT MOROCCO IN SUMMER?

Absolutely! All seasons offer a unique perspective of Morocco, and summer offers a different view of Morocco.

Morocco is home to many festivals. And many of them happen during the summer months.

The Fes Festival of World Sacred Music takes place over a week in June and brings together brilliant musicians from all over the world to create a beacon of peace from the Islamic world.

Also in June, the Gnaoua World Music Festival takes over the quiet coastal town of Essaouira to celebrate the music and arts of the Gnaouas.

Additionally, fewer international travelers mean you will be able to connect with more locals and witness cities and towns come alive with their routines and traditional festivities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO TRAVEL TO MOROCCO

Great news! To guarantee your trip to Morocco, a tourist visa is not required. The requirement is that visitors have a passport valid for at least six months from entry into the country.

It is important to know that the border in the Strait of Gibraltar (Spain Tarifa-Tangier) remains closed. This way, you can plan your arrival in Morocco.

Furthermore, it is still mandatory to present a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before arrival in Morocco, as well as the Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.

It is important to have the hotel reservation address along with the documentation you will present upon entry to the country.

The entry form is already available on the flight. So printing it beforehand is optional. But don’t forget to fill it out, even if it’s during the flight, as it needs to be submitted upon arrival in Morocco.
